Concerts at the Point exists because of Roz’s creativity, prodigious energy, love of music, and dedication to the Westport community. A lyric soprano, teacher, and tireless organizer, she founded the series in 1996 and led it for many years. Since her death in 2024, a generous bequest from her family continues to support the organization that was so close to her heart.

Rosamond Wadsworth spent her entire life in the world of music.  After graduating from Brown University, she earned a master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester.  She taught music in schools for many years.  While she and her husband David were raising their family, she established a private teaching practice that continued well into her eighties.  A gifted soloist herself, Roz was a lyric soprano who specialized in French art songs, especially the music of 20^th-century composer Francis Poulenc.

Besides her work as a teacher and performer, Roz was a tireless organizer.  In addition to establishing Concerts at the Point, she founded and directed choirs in Barrington and Westport and served as music director for many years at Temple Beth-El in Providence.  Her musical activities continued into her retirement years, when she and David moved to Cathedral Village, a senior living community in Philadelphia.  While there, she performed a solo recital, sang in the Cathedral Village choir, wrote reviews of music performances, and organized the community’s Matinee Musicale program.
