Returning for the sixth time to Concerts at the Point, the Muir String Quartet has distinguished itself as one of the world’s most powerful and insightful ensembles with its "unbridled musicality" (American Record Guide), extraordinary musicianship, and exhilarating involvement in performances, all qualities cherished by Concerts at the Point audiences.
Program for October 3 will include: Haydn Quartet in G Minor, Op. 74, #3 "Horseman;" Janacek Quartet #1 in E Minor; and Dvorak Quartet in C Major, Op. 61.

Founded in 1982 by a group of enthusiastic colleagues, BCMS is an ensemble of superb musicians who come together in different combinations to prepare and perform chamber music. Over the last 28 seasons, BCMS has built a reputation for impassioned performances, demonstrating the perfect combination of control and freedom that comes from years of collaboration, ripened over time by the long personal and professional histories of its members and its specially chosen guest musicians.
Program for October 24 will include: Mozart Clarinet Trio in E-flat Major, K 498, "Kegelstatt;" Imbrie Serenade for Flute, Viola, and Piano (1952); and Brahms Clarinet Trio in A Minor, Op. 114.

Escher String Quartet

The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its individual sound, inspired artistic decisions, and unique cohesiveness. The group has performed at many prestigious venues and festivals, including Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y, and Symphony Space in New York; the Gardner Museum in Boston; The Ravinia and Caramoor Festivals; Music@Menlo; and LaJolla SummerFest. Within months of its inception in 2005, the quartet was invited by both Pinchas Zuckerman and Itzhak Perlman to be the quartet-in-residence at each artist’s summer festival. This is the Escher String Quartet’s first appearance with Concerts at the Point.
Program for November 14 will include: Beethoven Quartet, Op. 18, No. 4; Smetana Quartet "From My Life;" and Brahms Quartet No. 2

Boston University Opera Institute
Featuring the glorious voices of rising stars of the opera world, the Opera Institute’s bi-annual visit has become a tradition at Concerts at the Point. William Lumpkin, Music Director/Conductor of the Opera Institute and conductor at Boston Lyric Opera as well as the Opera Theater of St. Louis, accompanies the singers. Under the guidance of Sharon Daniels, Director of Opera Programs, and Phyllis Curtin, Artistic Advisor, along with a professional faculty that includes many guest artists, the Boston University Opera Institute sponsors and trains outstanding young professional singers in the crucial years between university and career.
